If your looking to become a pilot there is no better place to start than a Recreational Pilot Certificate. The RPC is a fun and cost-effective way to enter the aviation world and can be taught at your pace whether you want to fly daily, weekly or monthly.

Below is what to expect during your journey.

TRIAL INTRO FLIGHT

This flight is a hands-on taste of what it is like to fly a light-sport aircraft. Your instructor will brief you on the ground before you both take to the skies where YOU will fly the plane. 

This trial flight is a no-obligation first lesson that can be entered into your logbook if you decide to continue on to your pilot licence.

Flight Lessons

Now that you have a taste for the pure freedom of flight, it’s time to begin your journey towards your RPC (Recreational Pilot Certificate).

Our highly experienced instructors will guide you through each the lessons as you build all the necessary skills to become a well-established aviator. 

Attaining your RPC will take approx. 25-30hrs depending on how quickly you pick it up.

FIRST SOLO

Flying an aircraft without an instructor beside you is a day you will never forget!

Once your instructor feels you are ready they will send you on your first solo. This right… just you, the plane & the sky.

 

THEORY

To be a great pilot it’s not all about skill!

The underlying theory is just as important and an integral part of attaining your RPC. Whether you are a bookworm or prefer a classroom environment our instructors will ensure you are well prepared for your theory exams.

Prior to the test, your instructor will take you one a flight review to ensure you are well prepared for the real thing.

Once you pass the flight test you will be the proud holder of a Recreational Pilot Certificate ready to take to the skies as you please. 

 

FLIGHT LESSONS

At this point in the journey, all your hard work will be put to the test as you embark on your Flight Test.

Prior to the test, your instructor will take you one a flight review to ensure you are well prepared for the real thing.

Once you pass the flight test you will be the proud holder of a Recreational Pilot Certificate ready to take to the skies as you please.

At this point in the journey, all your hard work will be put to the test as you embark on your Flight Test.

Why get RA-AUS Recreational Pilot Certificate?

You can fly solo from the age of 15 and start flight training even earlier.

You can achieve your Recreational Pilot Certificate in as little as 20 hours of flight time. But for most students, 30hrs is a good number to use when budgeting.

Flying requires pilots to maintain a medical standard. Recreational Aviation Australia only requires a self-declared drivers licence medical saving you time and money – Some conditions apply.

The Cost

The average student will complete their RPC in 25-30hrs flying time. The minimum requirement is 20hrs. You can also expect approx 10hrs of ground theory.

Rates for flying in the Sirius TL-3000 are:

Dual Hire (with an instructor) – $270 per hour

Solo Hire – $220 per hour

Private Hire – $170 per hour

Ground Theory & Pre Flight Briefings – $100 per hour

You are only charged for the actual time you complete. Eg. 45min of Dual Flying is $270 x 0.75  = $202.50.

The most important thing to keep in mind that the number of hours required to attain your RPC competency-based.
